HOW TO CREATE A RELAXING AT-HOME FOOT SPA EXPERIENCE

One of the things I do before, when I need a bit of pampering is to book a massage and foot spa treatment. It does tend to get expensive, because other than the spa treatment, my friends and I will make a day of it. We’ll eat lunch, have coffee, shop and have dinner and after dinner drinks before we call it a day (mostly night). And the relaxation I got out of that whole day, will vanish first thing Monday morning when I get to work. 😅

Nowadays, if I need some pampering, I treat myself to a homemade foot spa. It’s easy to prepare, totally free, and I can do it in the comfort of my own home.

HOW TO CREATE A FOOT SPA WORTHY OF YOU AT HOME

The key is ambience. One of the things I like when going to the Spa, is the smell and the soft music. Stepping in the establishment automatically relaxes me. Re-creating it at home is easy.

Here’s how to create a Home Foot Spa experience:

Pick a quiet corner in your house ( I use the bedroom).

Arrange a chair and a side table. Put a rug in front of the chair and place your basin. On the table, place your towel, lotion and a pair of socks.

Create a playlist of spa worthy music.

Use scented candles or air diffuser.

Put all the ingredients you need for your foot soak in the basin.

Place a pitcher of water nearby and another basin within easy reach.

Turn on your playlist and light your candles/ turn on your diffuser before putting on the kettle to boil water.

While waiting for the water to boil, take a quick shower, or at least wash your feet.

Prepare your beverage. By the time the water finishes boiling, the smell of the candles/ diffuser would have already permeated your room.

Pour the hot water in basin, stir in the contents, and let it cool for a while.

Relax and soak your feet for around 30 minutes. You can exfoliate with a hand towel or pumice if you feel like it.

Once done, set aside the foot soak, and get the other basin and pitcher of water. Rinse your feet and dry it off.

Apply lotion to moisturize your skin before putting on socks. You’ll have baby soft, smooth skin the next morning.
